Valentines Day Came Early...Glossybox January Review

So the good people at Glossybox decided to make January's box a Valentines themed affair (Valentines Day is in February, is it not?) Regardless, its a nice idea and I would never say no to the hot pink box that popped through my letterbox this morning :)

 Inside were these lovelies...

Firstly, was an Eyeko Skinny Eyeliner - 'Get a handle on your eyeliner for precise definition and intense colour with a long-lasting finish' retailing full size (which was what was in the box) at £9.50. It has a lovely waxy, smooth texture and glides on which ease - no tugging!

I've been dying to get my hands of Eyeko products for a while but haven't found a stockist nearby yet (if anyone knows where to get your hands on these do let me know!) so this was a nice one this month. But I was a little disappointed with the colour - i got 'Powder Pink' which is literally a dusky nude pink - I am a MAC NC25/30...Powder Pink is useless to me...EXCEPT perhaps on the waterline as an eye brightener...which is how I will use this.

It comes with the extended silver tip and the selling point is that even when you have sharpened it right down, you can still deftly apply liner with precision!

Secondly, was Murad Hybrids Skin Perfecting Primer - Dewy Finish - 'Oil-free primer ignites a radiant glow powered by light enhancing minerals' Fullsize 30ml at £29 - received a 5ml sample.

This was another welcomed addition because primers are usually quite pricey and not something everyone thinks to go out and try. I personally love Smashbox Photofinish Primer and have been using it for a few years now, not on a daily basis but for special occasions or on clients and has worked a treat. Not too keen on the 'Dewy finish' of this particularly on normal-oily skin, however, its a fun product to try and a brand I've not used before.

Thirdly, Davines Cleansing Nectar - 'The authentic Davines formulas for the beauty and delight of every woman' Fullsize 280ml bottle at £18.50 - received 90ml.

Not a lot of description or instruction on what this product does or how it is to be used, only says 'Hair and Body Oil Shampoo' so from that, I can deduce that its...hydrating. It contains Organic Carthame Oil (more commonly known as Safflower Oil) and is known for being rich in vitamins with its precious regenerating, anti-oxidising properties. It contains no parabens, SLE's, artificial colours, silicons or sulphates and seems to be a gentle cleansing oil. 

Another Davines product included is: Davines Moisturising Balm  - 'The authentic result of out commitment is a precious line of intelligent products rich in natural ingredients' Fullsize at £17.50 150ml - received 75ml.

Even for 75ml this is a pretty big sized tube and I love the packaging of this - it has a foil style, squeezy tube and a modern, quality look about it. Again, it uses similar ingredients to the Nectar and contains the Organic Carthame Oil. This can be used on face, hair and body and is a conditioning balm. I like the versatility of the product - not overly keen on the botanical, plant scent though.

Lastly, Fab Gentle Body Wash - 'A moisturising irritant-free everyday cleanser ideal for even the most sensitive skin' Full size at £13 for 226.8g - received 56.7g. I quite like this as its very travel size. 

It says it has the Fab antioxidant booster - not sure what that is, and like the Davina products it contains no parabens etc etc and is free from common irritants like lanolin and alcohol. Not scented and seems like a nice enough cleanser - my skin isn't overly sensitive and I'm currently using the No7 Radiance Boosting hot cloth cleanser but for days when I'm in a rush this may do nicely.

All in all, its been a good box - dare I say, my favourite Glossybox yet? Whilst other bloggers were very impressed with the December box I thought it could've had more useful items and this one seems to fulfil that for me - there are make-up items and a good range of skin/haircare. The theme could have been adhered to a bit more stereotypically - nothing in the box seems geared to Valentines Day really, instead the theme seems to be 'natural and gentle' in regards to the cleansers and moisturisers.

I think this will be my last Glossybox for a while *sob.* It is so lovely to get the pretty box in the post but I personally haven't been blown away and am still slightly bitter I did'nt sign up a month earlier back in October to get the HD Brows kit or even earlier to get the Nars illuminator. Maybe I will switch to Boudoir Privé for a couple of months and see how that goes for me instead...
